AWANA

About Awana Clubs

Awana is our weekly mid-week ministry for our kids in Kindergarten to 5th grade. AWANA meets during the school year on Wednesdays from 6 to 7:30pm in the KidZone.

Our Discipleship Philosophy

Awana Clubs is built on our 3B ministry philosophy of child discipleship: Belong, Believe, Become. Children build spiritual resilience when they feel they belong to Jesus, when they believe in the truth of the Bible and then become disciple makers in their own right.

What happens at an Awana club?

A night at an Awana club balances connection, learning the Gospel and having fun to help kids grow relationally and spiritually.

Large Group Time

Large Group Time centers around the week’s Bible lesson, but it’s more than sitting and listening! We help you make it interactive, then give you the flexibility build out the rest of the time your way with puppet shows, worship music, announcements, awards — whatever captivates your kiddos and invites Christ to enter into your club time.

Small Group Time

Small Group Time huddles a handful of kids around a consistent leader to foster warm relationships as kids ask their questions and discuss the Bible lesson, work through their handbooks and pray together.

Group Activity Time

Let’s have fun! Kids never forget playing games, making crafts and jumping (literally!) into activities. Even if your church doesn’t have a gym or activity center, Awana staff will work with you to create games and activities to fit your vision and your building.

KidsZone

Times

KidsZone is offered during the Discipleship hour at 9:00am for children birth through 5th grade, and for children in the nursey and preschool during the Worship hour at 10:30am.

Check-In System

Security is very important to us, so our check-in process is highly effective yet very efficient for parents and kids. If you are a first time guest, simply go to the designated “Visitor Check-in” that you will find in our KidsZone lobby. There you will find helpful assistants that will get you registered with a security badge for you and your child (security badges must match to pick up child). You must have either a parent security badge or a volunteer lanyard to enter the KidsZone.

KidsZone Values

  1. Family Is Primary- God has given parents the role to be the primary people who pass on the faith to the next generation. Eph 4:11-13
  2. Spiritual Formation Is Our Goal- We desire that those in our care will have been spiritually formed by the time they leave our Family Ministry. We want Christ formed in you, nothing less. Galatians 4:19
  3. The Holy Spirit Is The Teacher- It’s essential to teach them to rely on Him at all times because He is there teaching them when they’re not in our classes or our homes.
  4. Scripture Is Our Authority- Our task is not just to teach kids about God’s Word, but also to allow them to investigate it for themselves.
  5. The Big God Story- God’s Word is one redemptive story line with one main character. Kids will discover the entire gospel from beginning to end, a story that’s still being written and the part they can play in it.
  6. God Is Central- God should be the main focus of every story, not biblical people. We will worship and respond to Him.
  7. Ministry Support- Psalm 78 commissions us to pass on faith from generation to generation, even to those yet to be born. Faith that lasts will take more than just one person. We’re going to join together as one faith community that is together for the long haul and not give up.

KidsZone Curriculum and Parent Resources

Our desire is to help parents be the primary spiritual leaders in their homes. Our goal is to inspire, equip, and support you in your efforts. Most parents would agree that they believe it is their role to do so they simply don’t know how or even where to begin. That’s where we come in. Each week your child will come home with an activity page you can use to develop a weekly or daily time of family worship. There are discussion starters and activity ideas to help dig deeper into what was talked about this Sunday at church.  By intentionally talking through these resources YOU will be be disciplining your kids! This is based on Deuteronomy 6:7“Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up” — a parent can make the most of everyday moments to instill faith and character in the heart of their child.
