Fasting Stage 1:
All we have for the glory of God.

Scripture Memory and Meditation: Matthew 6:9, “Therefore, you should pray like this: Our Father in heaven, your name be honored as holy.”

As you fast, in order to feast on Christ, we must begin by reminding ourselves that we are in desperate need of Him. We fast because we MUST fast. We daily need to relieve ourselves from things that distract us from the Glory of God. In the beginning of the Lord’s Prayer, we read: Our Father in heaven, your name be honored as Holy. As we begin to feast from certain things in order to feast on Christ, it begins with worship of Him.

Action to consider: Set aside 30 minutes one day before March 15th to get alone and pray for 30 minutes non-stop.

March 5 – Praise God for the beauty of His creation.
March 6 – Adore God in prayer for who He is – He is holy.
March 7 – Praise God for His great love, that you could be called “His child”.
March 8 – Thank God for the people He has put in your life. (family, friends, etc.)
March 9 – Thank God for all He has given you, for every blessing.
March 10 – Thank God for everything, using the alphabet as your guide. (Thank you for Adoring me, thank you for my Brother, thank you for Caring for me…etc.
March 11 – Thank God for Jesus and the salvation we have through Him.
March 12 – Pray for your family, at home and extended. Maybe even take requests.
March 13 – Thank God for everything that happened today.
March 14 – Praise God in song.

Fasting Stage 2:
All we have for the Gospel of Jesus.

Scripture Memory and Meditation: Matthew 6:10,  “ Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”

As you fast, in order to feast on Christ, we must focus on what God has called all believers This verse we are memorizing and meditating on is a powerful prayer. Jesus calls us to pray that God will bring His kingdom and that His will would be done. Would this really be our prayer? Lord, we want your will for our church, our community, our
neighbors, and for us! As we fast so we can feast, we must look at God and ask, are we really focused on His will? Let’s spend each and every day this week asking the Holy Spirit to give us wisdom and understanding to follow His leadership day by day, so that our lives are dedicated to doing His will and building His kingdom. Be careful,
because praying these things in earnest, empowered by the Holy Spirit will begin to change your life.

Action to consider: Talk to someone about Jesus between March 15th and 24th .

March 15 – Pray that you would know God’s will today and follow in it
March 16 – Pray that God shows you your mission field and that He would empower you to go to it.
March 17 – Pray for your friends who are lost.
March 18 – Pray for lost family members by name
March 19 – Ask God to show you what your life would look like if His kingdom was here and His will was overshadowing your life.
March 20 – Ask the Lord to build His kingdom, at all costs, through you today.
March 21 – Ask the Lord to show you His will for your life in areas you are concerned with.
March 22 – Ask the Lord who one person is you should talk to about Jesus, invite to Easter, etc.
March 23 – Ask the Lord what things are in your life that you are not fasting from, but maybe should be.
March 24 – Ask the Lord to reveal His will for FBC to the leadership, elders, and staff.

Fasting Stage 3:
Lord, sustain us and draw us to yourself.

Scripture Memory and Meditation: Matthew 6:11,  “ Give us today our daily bread.”

As you fast, in order to feast on Christ, we should begin to see and feel our hearts resetting. It takes 21 days to begin a new habit or stop an old one. This prayer by Jesus reminds us that Jesus found all of his satisfaction in the Father. He asked for His daily bread, but why not more? Shouldn’t we ask for more of God than we can even understand? Shouldn’t we always want more and more? This isn’t the point here. Jesus knew that if we asked God to give us our daily bread, we would ask for God to satisfy us with all we needed today. Why only today? Because then tomorrow we need to ask again, and the next day, and the next. Jesus is teaching us sufficiency in Christ and in nothing else. Part of the reason we don’t just fast from but we fast to something is so we can begin to fill the desires of our hearts with Christ. WE don’t need to be satisfied in anything else, but in Him. The next ten days, we will begin to ask God daily that he would sustain us with all we need today and ask for the strength for that to be enough.

Action to consider: One day between March 25th and April 3rd , ask God what to do or say next all day.

March 25 – Ask the Lord to Sustain you with His presence and life today.
March 26 – Ask for the Lord to bring scripture to your mind throughout the day today.
March 27 – Ask for the Lord’s guidance and will for FBC.
March 28 – Ask for the Lord to sustain the staff at FBC. Pray for each person by name.
March 29 – Ask the Lord to fill, lead and guide our elders.
March 30 – Ask the Lord to fill, lead, and guide our deacons.
March 31 – Ask the Lord to lead, guide, and sustain the lay leaders at FBC.
April 1 – Ask the Lord to provide for your needs and the needs of your family TODAY.
April 2 – Ask the Lord to provide for the needs of those we struggle to love.
April 3 – Ask the Lord to provide what FBC needs to do and what He has called us to do today.

Fasting Stage 4:
Lord, forgive me and sustain me so I may forgive others.

Scripture Memory and Meditation: Matthew 6:12-13,  “ And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13  And do not bring us into temptation but deliver us from the evil one.”

As you fast, in order to feast on Christ, we should continue to practice what we have learned. Glorify God with every fiber of our being. Commit our lives and daily routines to His will and His mission. Daily rely on Him as the source of all life and sustenance. Each and every day, we should pray these things. These ten days, we want to take captive
our thoughts for other people as well. Forgive us of our debts, as we forgive and deliver us from the evil one. As Christ sustains us, fills us, calls us on mission, and is glorified in worship now we must ask one more question: How does this flow into how I live my everyday life? Do we ask God to keep us from walking in the path of the evil one (or
more specifically the sinful desires of our hearts)? Who do we need to forgive? What temptation do we need Christ’s resurrection power to stand up under? Understanding all the while that how we walk flows out of the source of our satisfaction, which flows from being satisfied in building His kingdom, which ultimately begins and ends in worship to God. The next ten days, let’s take into consideration how we walk and how we love others.

Action to consider: Prayerfully consider someone you need to ask forgiveness from, or you need to forgive. Reach out to them this week to offer forgiveness or ask for it.

April 4 – Ask the Holy Spirit to show you sinful desires or actions you ignore.
April 5 – Pray a Prayer of confession to the Lord for sins you looked at yesterday.
April 6 – Pray for the needs and requests of others
April 7 – Ask the Holy Spirit who you need to forgive? Who has wronged you that you need to offer forgiveness to?
April 8 – Ask the Holy Spirit who you need to ask forgiveness from. Who have you wronged and not made right?
April 9 – Ask the Lord to give you wisdom on the habits you need to implement to help you make God honoring decisions every day.
April 10 – Pray for the health and God’s blessings over someone you are struggling to love.
April 11 – Ask God to show you where you allow Temptation to get too close.
April 12 – Prayer of consecration – What has God been showing you, and what is your next step?
April 13 – Pray for those far from Christ, that they would come to faith in Jesus.
